A condensed Spring 2021 schedule has been announced by Morehead State University.

The Office of the President sent out an email Monday, November 16 detailing the plans for the end of the fall semester, winter term, spring semester and traveling guidelines.

Per Governor Any Beshear's guidelines students will be finishing their fall semester classes online after Friday, November 20. Professors are to instruct their students on how the virtual change will impact their class.

Residence halls will remain open through November 24 as will dining options.

Aside from the recent change President Dr. Jay Morgan is incredibly happy with how the semester has gone so far.

“From my perspective I think, it’s been a success all things considered,” said Morgan. “I think our students have done wonderful. I think our faculty and staff have done wonderful. It appears the university has done what it was supposed to do.”

Overall, there was a total of 163 MSU related Covid-19 cases, and MSU doesn’t currently plan to change how any of its procedures work in the following semester.

However, MSU does plan address some of the Nunn Hall quarantining issues.

“We did experience at the beginning of the semester, to my knowledge, a little disruption. It was different,” said Morgan. “Nunn is an older residence hall and we have had some issues with it. We’re going spend some during the break here starting in December cleaning it really good and fix some stuff getting it ready for the spring semester.”

MSU has also verified the dates for the winter and spring semesters.

Two winter terms have been scheduled to aid in class flexibility.

Winter term II begins December 3 and is 100 percent online until January 1. The week of January 4-8 will be used as an option for on-campus, in-person classes or labs for this term. Winter term I begins December 14 is online for the whole term which ends January 8.

Spring semester classes will begin on January 19. The semester has two academic breaks on February 17 and March 30. Final exams will fall on the week of May 3-7.

Move in dates have not yet been set, but it will be in the same phased move in format as the fall semester.

MSU is also asking all students and faculty to get tested in their home towns before returning to campus.
